Glenmorangie 10yo 40% (fresh but older bottling)

  • Colour : Pale 9ct gold
  • Nose : Fruity, apples and pears, butter and creamy caramel with vanilla notes - very nice!
  • Palate / Mouth : Warm (almost stinging), pear drops, vanilla and creamy butter. With water - more cream, more buttery flavours, softer
  • Finish : Short-ish finish, a soft almost cloying (but comforting rather than irritating) mouth feel.
  • Conclusion : I like this style of whisky, its soft and not too demanding, great to drink outside in the summer.

Mortlach 18yo, The Wine Society

  • Colour : Pale 18ct Gold, Golden syrup.
  • Nose : High alcoholic note, sweet fino sherry, toasted oak and peanuts. With water - more citrus / orange blossom
  • Palate / Mouth : Warming alcohol, caramel and tobacco
  • Conclusion : A nice warming expression, a mid-day dram, lots of citrus notes on the nose and in the mouth but plenty of sherry cask character to go with it.
